WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE?
In the spring, by late April the air warms up to 60 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and most signs of snow are gone except in the deep coniferous forest. May through August see daytime highs of 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit to night time lows of 35-55 degrees Fahrenheit. Quick heavy rainfalls are not uncommon, although sunny skies are the norm. November and early December bring new snowfalls with daytime temperatures averaging 25-35 degrees Fahrenheit and cold nights in the 0-20 degree Fahrenheit range. There can always be exceptions to the normal weather patterns, so be prepared.
WHAT OTHER WILDLIFE CAN WE EXPECT TO SEE?
During the bear hunts, you may encounter whitetail deer, mule deer, moose, elk, timber wolves, red foxes, red squirrels, flying squirrels, snowshoe hares, woodchucks, mink, otter, fisher, porcupine, chipmunk, weasel, martens, lynx, beavers, muskrats, bald eagles, pelicans, cormorants, Click for larger imageosprey, great grey owls, great horned owls, purple martens, grebes, loons, night hawks, Canada geese, spruce grouse, ruffled grouse, sharp tail grouse, ravens, magpies, jays and many species of shore birds and ducks. During the colder deer season, you may see coyotes, moose, elk, wolves, weasels, fishers, foxes, red squirrels, lynx, snowshoe hares, bald eagles, great grey owls, horned owls, pileated woodpeckers, grosbeaks, chickadees, ruffled grouse, sharptail grouse, spruce grouse, ravens, magpies and whiskeyjacks.
CAN YOU LOOK AFTER THE TAXIDERMY WORK FOR ME?
Yes, we have several reputable taxidermists that will prepare your mount and ship it to you. Prices are available upon request. You do not have to worry about it not getting to your home with lost luggage or airline delays. The finished mount will show up at your home in 6 - 9 months on average.

IS SMOKING ALLOWED?
There are designated smoking areas both indoors and outdoors at both camps.
ARE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES SUPPLIED?
These items are your responsibility, but we can pre-purchase them for you. Wine is served at no charge with some of the meals. Drinking is not permitted before or during hunting hours.

Yes, we have a limited number of rifles available for rent by pre-arrangement.
ARE REVOLVERS ALLOWED IN CANADA?
No, they are classified as a restricted weapon and cannot be brought into Canada.
WHAT IS THE LEGAL DRESS CODE WHILE HUNTING?
All rifle hunters must dress in a complete outer suit of solid white, red, orange, or yellow. A solid red or orange cap or hat is required. Bowhunters not carrying rifles may be dressed in camouflage colours.
HOW SHOULD I TRANSPORT MY RIFLES AND AMMO?

With the airlines, remove the bolt and carry your ammo separate from the firearm. While transporting from the camp to the hunting area your firearm must be encased, preferably in a soft case with no ammunition in the chamber or clip.


WHAT DO I DO WITH MY LITTER DURING MY HUNT?
Bring all garbage including wrappers, gum, human waste bottles from your blind on a daily basis back to camp.

In our south camp, there is normal phone access available, however in our north camp in the wilderness, we only have satellite phone access available at a cost of $2 USD per minute.


CAN I SIGHT IN MY RIFLE OR BOW BEFORE THE HUNT?
Yes, we have a shooting range at both camps. We usually sight in guns on Sunday if you arrive in camp during daylight hours, otherwise you can sight in your rifle on the following Monday morning. We require that all hunters fire their rifles before going into the field.
CAN I TAKE MY MEAT HOME?
The meat can be packed frozen in your own coolers for transport home. Check your airlines for weight restrictions and extra charges.
HOW ARE TROPHIES PACKED FOR SHIPPING?

All skins and capes are frozen for shipment and packed in cardboard boxes or in your own cooler. Antlers are cleaned and packed according to airline requirements. For shipment overseas we prefer to send it to you after the skins are salted and dried.






CAN WE CHARTER A FLIGHT TO ONE OF YOUR CAMPS?
Yes, there is a 5000' airstrip approximately 25 miles from our north camp, where we can pick you up. There is also an airstrip at Meadow Lake, which is about 15 miles from our south camp. Pontoon planes can fly right to our north wilderness camp.

CAN MY DEPOSIT BE REFUNDED?

If you have a personal or immediate family medical emergency, your deposit can be forwarded to another hunt of the same species within one calendar year or you can substitute to have another hunter fill your position.
CAN SPECIAL DIETARY PROVISINS BE MADE IF REQUIRED?
Yes, in most cases, by prior arrangement our cook will be able to accommodate you.

We recommend to all of our customers, if possible in the event that there is lost or delayed luggage that you book your flight to arrive on Saturday, and to then depart to camp on Sunday morning. If you state that you are with Safaris North Outfitters, you will receive a price discount. We ask that you contact us upon your arrival to make arrangements for departure to the camp on Sunday.

ARE THE COST OF MEALS OUTSIDE OF CAMP INCLUDED?
All meals from Sunday evening dinner through the following Friday or Saturday (depending on whether your hunt is 5 or 6 days) are included in the hunt price. Meals while travelling to and from camp are not included.
