GUN
REGISTRATION
FOR VISITORS TO
CANADA
As of
2001, all
non-residents must
now register their
firearms before
bringing them into
Canada.
A
"Non-Resident
Firearm
Declaration" form
must be filled out
and presented to
customs unsigned
upon your entry to
the country. The
one page form (FORM
JUS909EF) is mailed
to you by Safaris
North Outfitters
approximately 2
months before your
hunt date. It can
also be downloaded
to your computer at
www.canadianfirearms.com
Forms
must be be filled
out in triplicate
when presented to
customs agents.
Sign them at that
time and you will
then be required to
pay $50 CAD. For
your convenience,
try to have the
exact amount or a
credit card.
The
other long term
option if you are
coming to Canada
hunting on a
regular basis is to
initially write the
Canadian Firearms
Exam at a cost of
$50 CAD. If you
pass, you obtain a
5 year license that
costs approximately
$40 CAD. You will
then have to
register all guns
that you may bring
for a one-time fee
of $18 CAD.
If
you are a regular
customer, we can
store your firearm
for you in Canada
at no charge.
